The 4 Rivers Story

4 Rivers was born from a simple dream: to share the deep, soulful flavors of authentic American BBQ with every table we touch.

Founder John Rivers started smoking meats in his backyard in Sandy Springs, Georgia, inspired by a lifelong love of Southern cooking and the belief that great BBQ brings people together. What began as a community fundraiser quickly grew into something far greater — a beloved 4 rivers smokehouse destination that has become a landmark in the Georgia dining scene.

Today, 4rivers is recognized across the Southeast for slow-smoked brisket, hand-pulled pork, and legendary sides that have earned the loyalty of families, food lovers, and critics alike. 2009

The First Smoke

John Rivers fires up his backyard smoker for a local charity fundraiser in Sandy Springs, raising over $12,000 and discovering the power of BBQ to bring a community together.

2010

Opening Day

4 Rivers Smokehouse opens its first brick-and-mortar location in Georgia. Lines stretch around the block on opening day, and the smoked brisket sells out within hours.

2012

Regional Recognition

Named "Best BBQ in the Southeast" by regional food critics. The 4 rivers smokehouse reputation begins attracting visitors from across the country seeking our legendary pitmaster-crafted meats.

2015

Catering & Events Launch

We expand beyond our dining room with a full catering and events program, bringing the authentic 4rivers experience to corporate gatherings, weddings, and private celebrations.

2018

Franchise Program Launched
